Josephine in Coral Little Blomster

Pattern: Josephine by Violette Field Threads
Size 9/10
Fabric: Mormor Little Blomster in Coral by Lotta Jansdotter

I loved sewing this Josephine blouse as part of a Violette Field Threads sew-a-long.
Until, I got to the buttons.  They were a little frustrating.....  Lots of layers to sew a button hole through, and small buttons/button holes at that, but let's just leave it at that since I'm mostly over it now.  It was a learning experience and I'd make the pattern again. I really like the collar and pin tucks and sleeves (K* isn't sure about the flutteriness of the sleeves yet).Maybe a Josephine dress in the future.

I've never done a sew-a-long on the actual sew-a-long days, it was nice to have the pattern broken up into daily tasks.

My sweet K* wore this on the first day back to school and looked so cute.

Halloween Costumes 2014: Little Red Riding Hood & the Big, Bad Wolf

Little Red Riding Hood & the Big Bad Wolf

Little Red Riding Hood was sick with a confirmed case of the flu the week of Halloween, so sewing the costume was more last minute than planned due to extra snuggles and not being sure if she'd even need it.  But things were looking up on Halloween and she went to school.  Friends and a cousin even joined her for trick or treating that evening.

McCall's 6187
Adjustments to the bodice: made the bodice 5/6 width but 7/8 length.  Added at least 3 inches to the height of the bodice front for modesty/coverage (who wrote this pattern for little girls and what were they thinking on the lowness of the neckline?!?) and added an inch or so to the back bodice neckline.  Skirt adjustments:  I added fullness and length to both the skirt and the apron.
Sleeve adjustments: I lengthened the sleeves to be around just above her elbows.
The hood is lined.

Main fabrics are Riley Blake:
Black on Black Basics
Country Girls by Tasha Noel C3645 & C3642

The lace, ribbon, rick rac, white fabric and red fabric for the lining are from Jo Ann's

Kyoko in Blossom

For K*’s Easter dress this year, I used some fabric I’ve had in my stash for a few years and ModKid’s Kyoko pattern.
A pattern I’ve had for several years and am just now getting around to making.  Why did I wait so long!  I LOVE it!!  I think I’ll try and make a top for K* soon.
The main fabric is Blossom from Annette Tatum’s Little House Collection for Free Spirit.  The solid pink fabrics and ribbon are from JoAnn’s.  I made a size 7, K* is 8 1/2.
Changes I made:
The skirt is a little fuller than the pattern calls for, basically two widths of fabric and an inch or two longer.
The sleeves are shorter.
I lined both the bodice and skirt and attached some tulle to the skirt lining to add to the fullness {and twirling fun}.
The ribbon ties are also longer.

This picture is actually an iPhone pic from Easter day.

We’ve been super busy after school each day since I finished it, so I finally just took a few pictures quickly after church today {Mother’s Day}, nothing fancy like the birthday party dress, and called it good.

This iPhone picture is from the day I finished it. The dress was done on Friday before Easter.  Saturday morning I finished the sash, so this was the first look at it all done on K*.  It was the day before Easter, but somehow since the sash was all I had to sew that morning, I felt like it wasn’t the last minute like many projects end up being.

Sleepover PJ Pants in Sam I Am

 Pajama pants for my Sam.

He LOVES them.  Who wouldn’t love something made with fabric that said your name over and over and over though!
He goes through all the variations: Sam I Am! {loud & proud}, I Am Sam, Am I Sam? and on and on.

Fabric: Green Eggs & Ham Red Sam I Am by Dr. Seuss Enterprises for Robert Kaufman
I saw this fabric online and was happy to see it in person while in Utah visiting family {and fabric stores J}
Pattern: Oliver + S Sleepover pajama pants.  Size 12.
I really like the leg proportions {not too balloon-y} on the Oliver + S pajama patterns compared to some of the big name patterns I’ve used for him in the past.
Sam I Am font: Minya Nouvelle, cut out with my silhouette in vinyl to use as a stencil
Fabric paint: Tulip Soft in Red {Velveteen}.
I followed the directions using an iron to make the letters velveteen textured like and didn’t like how it started to make them curl, so I’d probably not do that step in the future.
White shirt from Target.

Scripture Case

No fancy pictures, just a quick shot on the ironing board.

I made this for my sweet K*.  It was supposed to be a baptism gift, but I didn’t end up making it until four months later, so it became a Valentine’s Day gift instead.  I had fabric selection problems and just a whole lot of other things, like life & settling into our new home, going on.

Fabric is Riley Blake’s Who’s in the Forest.  I bought it a few years ago and have a small stash of lots of the prints from this line waiting to be used…..

I used this tutorial from My Cotton Creations to make the scripture case.
I think I changed some of the cutting dimensions slightly, but I couldn’t tell you how I didn’t keep track and it was two months ago.

Birthday Party Dress in Oops A Daisy & A Coupon Code

The Birthday Party dress pattern by LilyBirdStudio.

This pattern is wonderful and comes in sizes 0 to 24 months and 12 months to 8 years.  Great, clear instructions.  A cute, sweet dress pattern that can be dressed up or worn just because it’s fun to wear a dress & twirl.

Fabric is Oops a daisy kaleidoscope by Keiki for Moda.
I bought this fabric a few years ago at a quilting store clear out and have been waiting to find the perfect pattern to make with it.
Initially, I wanted to make the sleeves out of the pink polka dot fabric also, bit it was cutting it close to have enough for the ruffle and belt.  In the end though, I think I like it better having the sleeves out of the same fabric as the main dress.
Hat from Gymboree, this year {2014}.
Slight changes I made to the pattern are: lined sleeves, longer belt, I used ribbon for the belt loops and the addition of a button placket flap.

I have also made the A line dress and recently purchased and have plans to make Bia’s A line dress & Laura’s dress & tunic.
