Emmeline Apron in Impressions

Emmeline Apron by sewliberated in Impressions Event Abbey & Solara prints by Ty Pennington with Kona Nightfall.

It was sort of a gloomy, cloudy afternoon when I tried to get some shots of the apron before picking S* up from school (early release for exam day).  Not very good at taking pics of myself either.
This is a Christmas gift for a friend, hope she likes it.  I think the fabric is much prettier than these photos show.

This time I did not use interfacing for the very top accent piece on the apron.  I think I like it better less stiff.  I also did not make the neck tie strips on the bias, I was feeling lazy/crunched for time, but they seem to be fine to me.

Emmeline Apron in Good Fortune

Emmeline apron from Sew Liberated in Kate Spain's dragonfly & sakura prints in harmony from her good fortune line with bella solids purple (9900-21).

The purple sakura print is probably one of my most favorite prints ever! I bought it last year knowing I was going to make myself an apron with it.  I just love it. I have some more, not sure what I'll make with it yet, perhaps a sewing machine cover?
Over the years, I have sewn Emmeline aprons as gifts for friends and my sweet K* always asks when I'm going to make one for myself.  Well, finally I did, just before my birthday at the beginning of February.

Totally Cute Apron in Lush

I'm showing a group of ladies from church how to make this apron tomorrow night.  The totally cute apron tutorial is from sewmuch2luv.  I emailed her and asked if we could use her tutorial, so I didn't have to come up with an apron pattern/tutorial on my own like I did for the girls skirts last month.  That makes things so much easier for me.  It is a very nice tutorial, leaving nicely finished edges everywhere.  I do think buying 5/8 and 3/8 yards of the fabrics would give you some wiggle room after washing the fabric if its not cut straight at the store or if you need something with stripes to line up straight.  But it that might only matter if you're "particular" like me.
Isn't the fabric just lovely.  It's Lush by Patty Young for Michael Miller.  I used the Purple Modern Lotus, Sky Happy Dot and Purple Running Stitch prints.

Fantasia Apron

I made this quick little apron for a friend's birthday.  It's based on a super easy tea towel apron pattern.  If you have a tea towel, you just add two pleats and waist ties.  I didn't have a tea towel on hand to use for this purpose, so I finished the edges of a rectangular piece of fabric roughly the size of a tea towel (around 20"x28"), then add the pleats, ties and some ribbon for fun.  I can't say I'm a fan of trying to sew to strips of ribbon parallel to each other.  I'll have to remember that when ideas pop into my head for K*.

The fabric is fantasia for red rooster fabrics.  It's one I had in my stash that I picked up on clearance at It's A Stitch last year.   The colors are a little more vibrant than the picture shows. The ribbon color is lemon grass and the waist ties are made from 1" white twill tape.  I used about 2 1/2 yards of twill tape, I think.

I don't know if others like to wear aprons too, or if I'm just weird.
